Iringa Regional Hospital is a Government Hospital located in Iringa Municipality. The hospital plays a big role that would consequently contribute to the improvement of the health of the Iringa population.
The Hospital has the capacity of 365 beds in sixteen wards, which provide in patient services. The hospital has a total of 341 Health Staff, which provides health, services in various departments.
The Hospital is a referral center-receiving patient from 6 Districts who need specialized health services. The hospital also serves both as a Municipal Hospital and hospital for Iringa and Kilolo District Councils since the three Councils have no Councils hospitals.
Recent hospital achievements include renovation and establishment of Grade 1 Annex, Painting of building, building a fence around the hospital, purchasing of hospital equipment, establishing a central sterilizing centre and acquisition of a new ambulance.
Major health problems facing the hospital include High morbidity of Malaria, ARI, HIV-AIDS, Diarrhea, Pneumonia, Anaemia, cardiovascular diseases and maternal complications.
Also the hospital has high mortality due to malaria, ARI, Pneumonia, PEM, ARC, Tuberculosis, Diarrhea diseases and operative sepsis.
